HOLLYWOOD ON STRIKE

Hollywood is on strike. But this goes much deeper than whether you’ll get to watch new episodes of your favorite. At the core of this debate lie questions of how to coexist with technology, what the future of work will look like for everyone, and how we, as a society, value creativity, originality and artistry.

Now, you may be thinking “oh actors make so much money anyway, I’m not worried about them” but consider this. The actors that you think of represent a tiny fraction of SAG membership. There’s a huge working class of actors whose names you’ve never heard of, but who make their living off small parts and background work.

In this video, I try to give you a better understanding of why this strike is happening, particularly concerning the use of AI.
